The library of the Botanische Staatssammlung München is stored together with the libraries of the Bayerische Botanische Gesellschaft and of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Fakultät für Biologie, Bereich Biodiversitätsforschung: Systematische Botanik und Mykologie.

Altogether the library holds about 20,500 books and 450 current journals; in total nearly 30,000 volumes. The main mode of acquisition of new literature is exchange for our periodicals: Currently 450 libraries and documentation centres worldwide are involved. Subjects covered include all parts of Systematic Botany and Mycology, floras, monographs and textbooks. The main function of the library is to provide a primary source of literature for the scientific research staff, students and the public. There are no external loans: all material must remain on the premises.
The literature is classified according to the Manuel de Conseil du Conservatoire Botanique de Genève (Dewey) and is accessible via an alphabetical card catalogue of authors, corporations and titles. Online-access is available through Catalogue/OPAC.
